Ava's Tea Party

Yesterday we had our tea party for Ava, to celebrate the life of Ava Rosemeyer.

"Ava's tea party is about taking time. Making time. Moments put aside to love and laugh with those you adore."

Last year we had a larger gathering of friends and little girls to celebrate, this year it was 'just us'.
Scarlet, Jasper and I spent some afternoons last week planning the tea party, and making decorations. We decorated drinking glasses and straws, we made some fancy umbrellas for our pink milk. We colored paper doilies, and made place cards.
We baked cupcakes, made jelly, and I made my first batch of scones. Scarlet made fairy bread, and discovered fresh strawberries and cream.

We even had some guests from Canada arrive just in time (Thank you Michelle!!)

After some pink milk, and a cupcake or two, Scarlet just wanted to dance. It may have been the sugar content of the party?!? But she went a little crazy....and made it impossible to take pictures :) hmm, not that unusual for her to be too 'busy' for photo's!!

It was a lovely sunny afternoon, while Jasper slept thru the whole thing :( , the wind had fun blowing our decorations in all directions, and my camera was not co-operating with me (yes! I'll blame the camera) It didn't matter. We were together, eating cupcakes!
Thank you, so much, Sheye, for letting us be part of your tea party.

The 'ekka'

These pictures have been sitting on mr mac for a few weeks, I hadn't even looked at them until last night! While David was in LA, the Ekka came to town! (Ekka is short for Exhibition, I'm not sure how that works....but thats what I've been told!!) I don't know anybody else that actually likes the ekka. People with kids go, because they seem to feel that they have to. Other than that people seem to avoid it like the plague, or the flu (which apparently you are sure to bring home with you if you dare go.) Me? I LOVE it. In Sydney it was the Easter Show. Here its the Ekka. I love it all. What is better than spending a whole day relishing in child hood memories, all the while creating memories for my children?
Growing up my mum HATED the Easter Show. It was busy, expensive, and with 4 kids to drag around it was all just hard work. As a child I never understood why she disliked it so much, I mean, it was only once a year. Taking Scarlet and Jasper this year I was determined to not be my mother! (That sounds awful.....) So, we did it all :)
First stop face painting (I could hear my mother saying "its a waste of money, it will just wash off")

Then the rides. Jasper was a lot more game than Scarlet, and was looking at the rides that go upside down. Thankfully it will be a few years before he passes the height restrictions on those rides.

We fed the baby farm animals, Jasper tried to pick a fight with a goat (he actually did a running head butt into it. crazy child)

And we go to see a lamb being born- Scarlet was a little grossed out by that, as was I.
We ate horrible food, loads of it. The kind that you think you want, until after you've eaten it.

We walked down side-show alley, but only managed to win the really dodgy prizes, we saw people that had won the massive soft toys....but we couldn't pull off such a win :(

We had so much fun, and laughed a lot.

I did briefly turn into my mother, in the showbag pavilion. I did the 'expensive bags of rubbish' spiel and limited them to 2 bags each..... guess you can't fight your genes.

Can you hear the screams of laughter?
Hope your day is full of fairy floss too

EEEEEEEEEK!!!

Its done.
OMG.
Ouch.

6, or so, weeks ago.....

today : )

ouch! I sit here in pain : )
but a hysterically happy pain!!!
Miss Mimsy did a fabulous job. As I said in my earlier tattoo post, Mimsy is the coolest chic I know. Betty Rizzo and Danny Zuko rolled into one, with a pinch of Sandy on the side : P

Thankfully today wasn't nearly as painful as the first session, I managed to actually speak for a large chunk of it, but, well....I was still a bit of a...girl. It hurts!!!
I just love the finished product. love. I keep looking at it (the picture, apparently when I try to look at it in the mirror I look like a dog chasing its tail...) It really is better than I imagined possible! Eeeeeeek!!!!

I did say that I would explain the 'meaning' behind this image, while it is adorably cute, there was a reason for each element. I started out the whole 'new' tattoo for the sole reason of wanting to tattoo 'jasper' onto myself. I already have/had 'Scarlet', and, well, you can't have one without the other! I wasn't sure what I wanted, or where.
Still trying to work out where to put 'jasper', and, this tattoo actually covered my 'scarlet' tattoo...so now I need to get that re-done somewhere!
The Elephant and the Clown are for my grandmothers. They have both been very influential in my life, and while they are incredibly different they are both strong women. Ma has collected elephants for as long as I can remember. Her house is FULL. Grandma collects clowns, she isn't as crazy in her collecting, but she does have quite a few!
The teacup comes from my great grandmother, and myself. My Great grandmother (Ma's mother) lived to a ripe old age of 105, and it warms my heart that she got to meet Scarlet, who we named after her. My memories of Nanna, are many, but I always loved having tea with her. Out of tea cups. The sound she made, as she sipped her tea would have to be one of my favorite sounds. And now I collect tea cups (again, what is with this collecting stuff? In my defense...I collect a lot of stuff!!)
The bunnies? well....they're my babies. We're rabbits :)
so there you have it.
Lots of rambling.

Glorious Winter Sun

Nothing like the sun. in winter. to really wake you up.
I love winter, and even more than that I love the winter sun. I love how its warmth gets right in, but you don't feel a burning heat like that of summer.
Scarlet and I had some fun in the sun this afternoon. It woke me up. And, after feeling a little broken...it warmed and healed me.

Photographer: Mumma
Model/Stylist: Scarlet.... I'm loving the outfits that this girl is putting together of late :)
